The 100th anniversary of the London Marathon was marked by one of the quickest races in history, being completed in just over two hours. Guy, just under two and a quarter hours behind, finished his first ever marathon in a grueling 4 hours, 14 minutes.

The Foyer Federation, a charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged young people get back on their feet, has appointed Rubbaglove to design and build its new website.

Rubbaglove has launched the 2008 Foyer-UNIAID Bursary site. This year's update features enhanced sign posting and a new integrated cross-platform data capture system.
The site enables applicants to apply online with an easy to follow application process, advice and a comprehensive check list.
The Foyer-UNIAID Accommodation Bursary gives one year's free or supported accommodation to students who are at risk of having to leave university because of extreme hardship.
Applications close on 3rd March.

Rubbaglove has built, designed and launched VisualMedia’s new website.
Answering a brief to create a visually led site, we created homepage that incorporates HTML with promotional Flash ad-spots.
We also created a bespoke backend CMS for controlling all text, images and movies on the site – it handles JPEG, Flash and multiple downloadable movie formats.
The website drives home VisualMedia’s ‘image is everything’ ethos with slick, clean pages and clearly defined sector areas.

UNIAID has been awarded the judges' Special Mention prize in the Best E-learning Programme Securing Widespread Adoption category at the E-learning Awards 2007 for its online tools, which help students prepare for and cope with the financial side of higher education: All About U, Student Survivor and Student Calculator.
The developers involved in the development were; Epic, Rubbaglove and Kerb, sponsored by HSBC, Red Bull, Aimhigher and UNITE.
The Judges said:
This project achieved an outstanding penetration using a successful strategic of viral marketing. It makes a difference to the opinions of those who use it. This project addresses an issue of national importance and strategic links have been made at a political level as well as some impressive commercial partnerships. The judges strongly believe that this project deserves and needs more attention from parents, teachers and Local Education Authorities.
There were 14 entries and 6 were shortlisted, including organisations such as Abbey and ABN AMRO.

UNIAID's Student Survivor, an online game that provides key information about student finances, has been awarded a National Training Award.
The game enables young people with little or no idea about the challenges of independent living to rehearse and prepare in a safe environment. Since launch, more than 2 million young people have played Student Survivor – many using it for up to an hour at a time.
Student Survivor explains bursaries, loans, grants and repayment thresholds, and is aimed at encouraging more students from low-income backgrounds, put off by fees and loans, to sign up for higher education.
The partners behind the programme are UNIAID, an independent charitable organisation sponsored by HSBC and others, Epic, Kerb and Rubbaglove, who created the Student Calculator within the programme and developed holding sites for All About U and Student Survivor.

Students’ charity UNIAID has reached the finals of the prestigious World of Learning Awards.
UNIAID has been scooping award nominations left, right and centre this year – including making the finals in the prestigious “Best eLearning project securing widespread adoption” category at the eLearning Awards, and being shortlisted for the National Training Awards.
The UNIAID Student Calculator, designed and developed by Rubbaglove, is at the centre of the charity’s suite of online tools.
The World of Learning Awards will be held on 14 November at Birmingham’s ICC.

Student Calculator, UNIAID's online budgeting tool, has proved to be extremely popular: in its first 8 months, it has reached 50,000 visits, far exceeding expectations.
Regular communications have been held with stakeholder groups to enable them to promote use in classrooms, summer schools and outreach programmes.

The Sun Online has today published an article about the UNIAID Student Calculator.
"The online tool takes the stress out of budgeting, meaning less time poring over your ‘expenditure’ column, and more time living it up at Fit Freshers’ Friday down at the Union. While it might not be cool to budget, changes in Higher Education funding mean it is more essential than ever for students to stay in control of their money," reporter Hazel Tyldesley said.
It's "simple enough for even the most maths-shy arts student to use," she added.

How do you make a small stand with a lot to say stand out at a busy exhibition?
Set with this task, Rubbaglove created a two minute AV presentation for The Deepwater Hockway Offshore Alliance stand at the Offshore Europe show in Aberdeen.
The AV piece communicates the full story and product catalogue of the Alliance, and captivated passers by. It was projected onto the back wall of the stand using an advanced short-throw projector. The AV allowed us to say much more than with traditional methods, while still showing graphics. It brought the stand to life.
The presentation was supported by brochures, banners, posters and other promotional materials, also created by Rubbaglove.

Rubbaglove has created the press ad campaign for Eclipse TD307IIPA speakers. The first of the two ads features stunning photography of the speakers alluding to planets, space and time travel, and communicates how Eclipse's unique time-domain technology takes listeners back to the moment the sound was recorded: "Get closer to sound".
The second ad develops the theme of depth from the previous campaign: "Go deeper".
The ads will be running in Macworld, iCreate and MacUser magazines from 1 September. Rubbaglove is pleased to have managed the creative, production and media buying.

Using a striking, simple design, the site includes an easy-to-use content management system that lets the company keep us up to date with up and coming shows. Jouissance's first show, Every Girl Gets Her Man, a dark comedy by Emma Sheanshang, goes up in March 2008 at the Soho Playhouse.

The updated UNIAID Student Calculator now includes data from the NUS/Unipol Accommodation Costs Survey 2007 so that students can get an accurate budget, based on their location – all accessed via an improved interface.
The UNIAID Student Calculator aims to diffuse the confusion around student finance and give practical budgeting help to prospective and existing students. It enables students to build a lifestyle budget, looking at their time as well as money, so they can learn how to keep their finances, social lives, employment and studies in balance. They can also read expert advice from the NUS as they journey through the tool.
UNIAID Student Calculator is an accessible, practical and engaging tool, developed and designed by Rubbaglove for UNIAID.

An elite team from UNIAID had Rubbaglove pinned to the wall in a dazzling display of bowling prowess at Bloomsbury Lanes last week.
Rubbaglove MD Guy Eaton pledged to improve his team’s performance for a rematch later in the year, adding that injury worries and a general lack of physical coordination had played a part in our defeat.

We’ve just finished work on UNIAID’s boxed MASH Test – creating characterised personalities with unique illustrations and illustrating the characters, devising and implementing the accompanying CD-ROM’s interface and content and combining all the elements into an enticing piece of package design.
The MASH test is an engaging card-based personality test for groups of undergraduates and year 11-13 students – they answer a series of questions to discover more about themselves and how their strengths and weaknesses could affect their financial situation.

Rubbaglove has created and launched the new UNIAID Interactive website – a national curriculum-linked knowledge resource for teachers helping students to cope with their finances and university life.
It aims to equip the main organisations and individuals responsible for guiding students with new ideas and tools, as well as the latest information about recent changes in UK student finance.
The site features 30 downloadable workshops over nine modules, including personal money management, accommodation and part-time work – making it easy for teachers to tailor their lesson plans – as well as case studies, forums and student testimonials.
We’ve also produced a print versions of the workshops – all contained in a special folder.

Rubbaglove and students’ charity UNIAID aim to help undergraduates take some of the stress out of organising their lives with the free Student Calculator. The tool, featured in The Sun, invites students to build a summary of how the choices they make will affect their time and money over a week, month or year. It can all be done before any real money changes hands, so there’ll be no nasty surprises come term-time.
